Careem is looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Finance team as the Associate Director, Financial Closing & Internal Reporting. This global role is essential to leading our on-ground finance team, ensuring efficient and timely execution of financial close processes, maintaining the integrity of our financial operations, and managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do

Leadership:

  • Provide direction and support to the on-ground finance team, fostering high levels of engagement and productivity.
  • Develop and maintain a robust team structure to ensure the continuity of operations across the Careem Group.
  • Mentor and develop team members, promoting professional growth and succession planning within the department.

Month-End Close:

  • Oversee and ensure the timely and accurate completion of month-end financial close processes in compliance with IFRS/US GAAP standards.
  • Deliver timely and precise financial reports that form the basis for management decision-making and reporting.
  • Collaborate with regulatory, corporate, and tax departments to fulfill their financial information needs accurately and promptly.
  • Establish proactive collaboration with various functions and the Technical Accounting team to ensure financial aspects of new business models, verticals, and corporate development initiatives are captured accurately and in line with reporting requirements.

Accounting and Financial Operations:

  • Ensure financial stewardship and oversight of all financial operations, maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise and ensure the integrity of processes such as procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and intercompany balances and reconciliations.
  • Ensure the ERP system is prepared and maintained to support evolving accounting and reporting requirements efficiently.
  • Develop and enforce robust internal controls and policies to safeguard the company's assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Process Improvement:

  • Collaborate actively on developing and implementing a transformation roadmap to enhance the accounting and financial operations function, supporting the organization's growth and readiness for Careem's Chapter 3 ambitions.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in financial close and reporting processes, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Drive innovation in financial operations through the adoption of new technologies and methodologies, ensuring the finance function remains agile and responsive to business needs.

What You'll Need

  • CA, CPA, or an equivalent professional qualification is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Extensive knowledge of IFRS and experience in a global, complex organization.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex accounting concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience in the technology or ride-hailing industry is a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
