Director, Product Management (Self-Serve & Platform)
The role, in a nutshell:
At Chainguard, we’re building the foundation for how modern software gets built: securely, reliably, and without slowing developers down.
We started by creating the category of minimal, vulnerability-free container images, now trusted by hundreds of leading enterprises and fast-growing startups. From there, expanded into Chainguard Libraries, Actions, and Skills—securing the open source dependencies and CI/CD infrastructure that power today’s most important ecosystems. Our goal is simple: give developers a trusted foundation so they can move faster, while giving security teams complete confidence in what’s running in production.
We are seeking a Director of Product Management to own our developer-first Self Serve offerings and the Platform, the critical layer that enables both internal and external partners to build on Chainguard. This is a high-impact role at the center of our product strategy. You’ll define how developers discover, adopt, and scale with Chainguard, while also shaping the platform that powers integrations and partner ecosystems.
You’ll grow a team of Product Managers, and partner closely with key stakeholders across Engineering, Partnerships, Product Marketing, Growth, Sales, and Customer Success. Just as importantly, you’ll stay close to the work, setting the bar through your own product thinking and execution, and mentoring your growing team, rolling-up-your-sleeve wherever necessary. Together with your team, you will work closely with developers and their security stakeholders to define the future of Self-Serve and our Platform, including Partner Integrations.
This position requires you to be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership, ruthlessly prioritize, work with tight timelines, and handle various tasks simultaneously while maintaining a positive attitude. You are able to have deep technical discussions with internal and external engineering stakeholders. You also have the soft skills necessary to navigate organizational dependencies, promote your team, and marshall whatever resources are required to solve your customers’ problems.
What you’ll do:
- Drive the strategy, roadmap and—most importantly—ship great products that streamline how developers adopt and build on the Chainguard platform.
- Build a developer-first platform that supports integrations and partner growth.
- Lead projects from ideation through launch and beyond, iteratively unlocking new customers and improving the product while overseeing maintenance and support.
- Gather and respond to quantitative and qualitative data and feedback, measuring the effectiveness of your team’s efforts and changing direction when required.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Partnerships, Product Marketing, UX, and other cross-functional teams, ensuring that our product can be easily adopted by developers and security practitioners alike. Navigate cross-functional environments with clarity and influence.
- Represent Chainguard externally wherever needed, including meetings with customers and prospects, partners, and industry analysts.
What we're looking for:
- Experience recruiting, leading, and growing teams of Product Managers. You should be able to attract and retain exceptional talent. Teams are measured by the sum of their output, and you will need help to achieve your goals.
- Technical depth is a must, as you’ll need to quickly establish credibility with developers and speak their language. Either prior experience as a developer, or proven success working in systems, networks, or an adjacent highly technical area.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record engaging deeply with customers and owning outcomes with hands-on execution and delivery.
- Ability to take ownership and move quickly, even in ambiguity.
- Ability to prioritize ruthlessly and focus on what matters most.
Bonus criteria:
- Experience leading a developer-first platform that serves both internal and external engineering teams.
- Experience working with and building integrations alongside external partners.
