Role Overview
Coupang’s Translation Operation Manager transforms Coupang into a global service by managing the global process of all contents necessary for product, development, and training guide.
Based on a deep understanding of local culture, the nature of eCommerce business and engineering process, you will oversee the process to ensure that the linguistic quality of Coupang services is maintained at a high level.
You will need to communicate directly with responsible translators and content strategists, establish processes and guidelines for managing the translated words and sentences, and take the leading role in distributing them.
You will also categorize and maintain translation database efficiently and continuously improve the quality and process, thereby contributing to Coupang’s global business.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish process for managing contents related to product, development, and training guide, based on understanding of local culture and the nature of eCommerce business
- Communicate and discuss solutions with stakeholders of global processes and translation tasks (such as PM, designer, engineer, translator, content strategist)
- Manage translation process, and prepare and distribute process guidelines – such as schedule management process and translation quality management process
- Maintain translation style guide, glossary category and database document – including preparation and distribution
- Monitor the trend of translation process in global services to support global business team and engineering team
- Lead projects independently and make decisions on necessary priorities
Basic Qualifications
- Native speaker level of Chinese (traditional)
- Proficient in English communication
- 7+ years of experience in translation or localization management
- Understanding of product design and engineering with experience of working in IT or eCommerce industry
- Experience in establishing or improving processes while managing translators or external translation companies
- Experience in leading and completing projects through close collaboration with various relevant teams within the company
- Communication skills for cooperating with various stakeholders to set priorities and solve problems
- Ability to produce writing guidelines and give presentations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in using CAT tools such as Lokalise
- Experience in working with various teams in a fast-growing environment
- Experience in managing projects with teams in various time zones
- Experience in budget planning and contracting with outsourced agency
