Role Overview

As Retail COE Selection leader, you will play a pivotal role in Coupang’s Retail (Rocket delivery) business. Objectives of this role is to 1. drive a customer-led Retail E2E Selection strategy (based on market indicators), 2. Deploy and execute the selection strategy in Beauty category (as a pilot), and 3. Build a sustainable Selection process / system capability to scale up across all categories.

In the key areas of this role, you will 1. Provide sophisticated customer insights (connecting to product segment as well as sourcing/Supplier) in a scalable way, 2. Turn actionable insights into specific execution plans through cross functional business partners (communication is key), 3. Lastly, not least, build a strong foundation of world-class E2E business intelligence tools and system solution.

What you will do

  • Design the customer-led Selection strategy, starting with customer insights, connecting to Product segments, then to sourcing strategy (incl. Online/Offline, supplier type, domestic/oversea, etc)
  • Deploy the selection strategy to Retail category business teams with specific input metric goals and execute it with performance tracking, feedback loop to reinvent our frontline strategy. As a Pilot, beauty (cosmetic) category would be a key focusing business, primarily focusing on Beauty Luxury Selection strategy.
  • Build a sustainable and scalable solution to make E2E selection strategy executed in Coupang Retail. It includes CRM, Selection intelligence, E2E Selection quality evaluation framework incl. both operational (process-driven) and customer-led metrics (e.g. Traffic, Conversion funnel, etc)
  • As a problem-solver, with leadership rooted in strong communication skills and outstanding judgement, break down complex problems into simpler components and analyze them to conduct seamless and successful cooperation and negotiations with executives and high-level stakeholders.
  • Hire the best talents and nurture them into future leaders who can develop, launch, and run new business.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and at least 10 years of experience in the field of business / Customer insights
  • Ability to provide “hands-on” leadership to solve problems based on experiences with playing a managerial role and successfully handling end-to-end aspects of a business, including P&L
  • Experience in establishing long-lasting relationships with top-notch global/local brands in the retail and eCommerce market and leading successful negotiations with them
  • Ability to influence the organization with strong and verifiable analytical skills
  • Experience in managing/building a team and hiring team members including your subordinate employees

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in taking on challenges and acting decisively to innovate existing practices to maximize customer satisfaction, which is our top priority.
  • Interest in technologies and experience in driving an initiative to simplify tasks and bring about changes through systematization
  • Strong communication skills/experiences that help preparing persuasive and clear documents and providing ideas in a passionate and convincing manner
  • Experience in conducting an excellent negotiation with a high-level representative of a domestic/global company
  • Ability to act rapidly and courageously without fear of failure
  • Bilingual (Korean/English)

    • In preparation for a job applicant’s request for the return of hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above, the Company shall retain the original hiring documents submitted by the job applicant for 180 days from the completion of the recruiting process. If no request is made until the end of this period, all of his/her hiring documents will be destroyed immediately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.
    • Hiring may be restricted in case the legal qualifications required for hiring and work performance are not met.
