Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be a key player on the team standing up and managing a new PAC. This executive will be responsible for overseeing and managing all day-to-day aspects of the PAC's operations. This includes developing and implementing fundraising strategies, managing donor relations, interfacing with the campaigns, PACs, and political operations of candidates for office, developing regulatory filings, and working with outside counsel to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in political fundraising, campaign management, and a passion for contributing to the development of and executing a government affairs strategy with the U.S. Congress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Strategy: Collaboratively develop, implement, and manage fundraising strategies to build an effective PAC.
- Donor Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors, including regular communication, recognition, and engagement initiatives.
- Compliance Management: Ensure the PAC complies with all relevant laws and regulations, including campaign finance reporting, filing deadlines, and disclosure requirements. Also, support development of Coupang’s filings under the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) with outside counsel and internal partners.
- Communications: Develop and manage PAC communications, including newsletters and donor outreach materials.
- Event Planning: Organize and manage fundraising events, donor meetings, and other PAC activities, ensuring effective communication and logistics.
- Political Strategy: Work with senior leadership to develop and execute the PAC’s political strategy, including identifying and supporting key candidates and initiatives.
- Collaborative Work: Collaborate with other departments, including HR and PR, to align PAC activities with broader organizational goals; and with the global Treasury, Finance and Accounting teams as necessary.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the PAC’s budget and ensure accurate financial records are maintained by the PAC, including all expenditures, contributions, donations, and financial reporting.
- Data Management: Oversee donor database management, ensuring accurate records of individual donors, eligibility, and contributions.
- Contribution Management: Coordinate between donors and relevant Coupang payroll teams to ensure that all payroll contributions made, including via through payroll deductions, are appropriately processed, recorded, and deposited into PAC accounts. For direct contributions to be made outside of the payroll withholding process, provide relevant instructions to approved donors.
- Financial Reconciliations - Contributions: Perform recurring financial reconciliations between funds deposited into PAC accounts and the corresponding payroll withholdings and direct donor contributions, working closely with the relevant Finance, Accounting, Payroll, and Treasury teams. Reconcile all individual contributions against the list of eligible donors meeting the relevant eligibility criteria.
- Financial Reconciliations - Donations: Perform recurring financial reconciliations between funds donated from PAC accounts and the donations approved by PAC leadership. Ensure adequate documentation is maintained to support each donation, including compliance with all laws and regulations.
- Regulatory Reporting: Timely and accurately prepare all required periodic reporting to regulators, including reporting of all contributions received and donations made, with all required corresponding information. Ensure that all relevant supporting documentation is maintained as required. Work with the PAC Treasurer for review of all reporting to ensure accuracy of the reporting and that the necessary reporting deadlines are met.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in political fundraising, campaign management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies.
- Knowledge of campaign finance laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- A demonstrated record of compliance.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate reports.
- Passion for politics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Established network of political contacts and relationships.
- Experience in digital fundraising and engagement.
- Advanced degree in Political Science, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience with digital business models, e-commerce, or retail industry.
Pay & Benefits:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.The base pay for this position ranges from $90,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $120,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
