Scope of the Role:

Leading the Coupang Taiwan Privacy Compliance team, responsible for managing and mitigating personal information protection risks across all business operations. This includes developing and maintaining a comprehensive privacy compliance program, ensuring adherence to Taiwan’s data protection laws and regulations, and providing expert advice to internal teams. The role requires strong collaboration with various departments and external stakeholders.

What will you do:

The Coupang Taiwan Privacy Lead will lead the development and implementation of a robust privacy compliance program, ensuring compliance with all applicable data protection laws and regulations in Taiwan. The role demands strong collaboration, proactive risk assessment, and continuous program improvement.

I. Program Development & Maintenance:

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive privacy compliance program, including policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with both Taiwan's data protection laws (like MODA) and Coupang’s global standards.

• Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with data protection laws and regulations.

• Conduct regular privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate potential data privacy risks.

II. Internal Consultation & Collaboration:

• Provide expert advice to internal teams (Legal, IT, Engineering, HR, etc.) on data privacy and protection requirements, including data breach prevention and response strategies.

• Coordinate with various departments to ensure alignment with privacy regulations across all operations.

III. Regulatory Monitoring & Training:

• Monitor regulatory developments and emerging privacy trends, recommending policy and procedure updates as needed.

• Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory authorities during audits or investigations.

• Design and deliver privacy training programs to employees to foster awareness of privacy obligations and best practices.

• Identify the personal information flow to ensure personal information used within opt-in purpose.

IV. Reporting & Leadership:

• Report to leadership on privacy matters, risks, and the overall effectiveness of the privacy compliance program.

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related area.

• Ability to review and provide guidance on privacy compliance issues.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate and solve project-related challenges.

• 10+ years of experience in privacy compliance, legal, or data protection roles, preferably within a multinational or regulated industry.

• Strong knowledge of Taiwan privacy law and regulations, including MODA, GDPR, and emerging privacy trends.

• Excellent understanding of information governance, data security, and data lifecycle management.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

• Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including executives, Legal, IT, Engineering, and regulatory authorities.

• Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and lead organizational change.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Holds domestic or international certifications related to privacy compliance.

• High level of experience and understanding of cloud-based service environments.

• High level of experience in the eCommerce business.
