Position: Principal, Compliance (Trust & Safety)

The Trust & Safety Compliance Specialist identifies and solves the problems that challenge the integrity of our business products, safety of users and the experience of our customers. The Trust & Safety Compliance Specialist protects the Coupang marketplace and businesses from IP infringement, seller and consumer abuse, listing non-compliances, and fraud risks. The Specialist captures the big-picture of risk and works cross-functionally and globally with partners to combat abuse and fraud cases with urgency. The Trust & Safety Compliance team monitors the company’s risk management activities and plays a pivotal role in establishing policies and setting standards for mitigating abuse and fraud.

What will you do?

  • Provide oversight and monitoring of risk management activities
  • Establish policies, standards, and procedures for risk management and conduct risk assessments to ensure that the businesses comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
  • Collaborate with partner teams including Compliance, Legal, Operations, Product, and Engineering to address fraud and abuse scenarios
  • Stay informed about the regulatory landscape, industry trends, norms and best practices, and internal operations and communicate solution based recommendations to stakeholders
  • Strive to know the business better to enable Compliance to provide and assist with appropriate and relevant support
  • Proactively discover new and emerging threats by reviewing data for anomalies
  • Set priorities by sizing issues through data discovery and reporting back to senior leaders with recommendations
  • Lead design and operationalization of risk management frameworks, strategies, and methodologies (e.g. measurement, and modeling) and scenario analyses
  • Collaborates with data analysts to create and design regular reporting that tracks progress of programs and projects and uses this reporting to update senior leadership
  • Audit operational work to ensure compliance with internal standards and for discovery of needed enhancements

Essential Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in operations, compliance, audit, or consulting within a risk management and/or fraud prevention discipline
  • Experience with risk controls frameworks (e.g. business risk assessments, regulatory reviews) and translating regulatory requirements into operational procedures
  • Excellent problem-solving, and attention to detail skills with experience solving problems across multiple functions and stakeholders
  • Ability to transform policy requirements to operational activities within a complex risk management environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with demonstrable multi-dimensional stakeholder management capabilities
  • Experience in project/program management (e.g. interpersonal, verbal, written communication)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an eCommerce environment a plus
  • Experience in risk modeling or scenario analysis a plus
  • Proficiency in English a plus
