Role / Team Overview

Coupang is seeking an experienced Director of Publisher Partner Management to lead a team of account (partner) management professionals for Coupang Partners. Coupang Partners is the largest affiliate marketing program in Korea. Starting in 2018 as an ordinary affiliate program to drive traffic and e-commerce sales, it has grown as a massive growth engine for Coupang, driving billions of dollars annually while allowing our partners to effectively monetize. We have built the program ground up including the technical platform that today hosts a massive number of partners ranging from top usage apps in Korea to various web publishers.

This role is for a partnership/account management leader who will define the strategic vision by identifying opportunities to nurture relationships with our most strategic and largest partners, driving the growth of our business while giving back ad revenue to our publisher partners. This role requires deep expertise in Coupang Partners, strong business acumen, and exceptional partner management skills to influence and motivate our partners to maximize their success with Coupang Partners. As such, we are looking for someone with strategic thinking, data analysis skills for setting strategic priorities, and action orientation, who can effectively communicate various advertising/monetization solutions to our partners through presentations and negotiations. This person would have an opportunity to manage and coach talented digital advertising account management professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Own, foster, and nurture business relationships with the most strategic and largest partners of Coupang Partners.
  • Manage and develop a team of account managers who also own relationships with key partners. Hold your team accountable, while prioritizing strategic initiatives, helping remove blockers, and providing escalation support
  • Lead business strategy development and design long term account plans for key partners, and execute strategies to achieve quarterly targets
  • Simplify existing working processes and invent new working mechanisms to improve team productivity and efficiency.
  • Leverage deep expertise in Coupang Partners and exceptional partner management skills to drive strategic growth of Coupang Partners by enabling the success of our partners. Develop a clear understanding of Coupang Partners offerings and their functionalities.
  • Analyze trends to identify, action and influence to maximize potential for the portfolio of key partners long ter. Analyze partner performance data and identify opportunities to increase partner’s adoption of Coupang Partners and subsequent increase in their revenues.
  • Implement and track key input metrics to measure your team’s success in driving growth for your partners. Use these metrics to guide your team’s work and uncover hidden areas of opportunities. Run regular reporting and narrative, identifying callouts, metric bridges, and action items and reporting to leadership
  • Promote Coupang Partners’ benefits to partners, presenting data-driven business cases and overcoming challenges. Meet with key partners to share best practices and deepen engagement. Create best practices through SOP creation and playbook enhancements to improve partner experience and accelerate partner adoption
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Business Development, and Analytics to align priorities and initiatives to drive growth. Closely partner with Product team to identify opportunities for new product offerings to partners
  • Gather and analyze useful market information from partners, and stay abreast of digital advertising industry trends and competitive landscape to proactively advise partners on growth strategies
  • Reporting plans and key results to senior management on a regular basis

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years in sales or business development role, preferably in high-profile digital advertising or e-commerce companies
  • Track record of managing a high-performing team with at least 5 years of people management experience
  • Experience of managing a portfolio of large accounts
  • Strategic negotiation experience with partners, including identifying, developing, and executing partnerships such as large-scale marketing deals, complex digital media transactions, and strategic technology relationships
  • Understanding of ad tech and publisher industry in Korea
  • Attention to detail and exceptional data analysis skill
  • Make prioritization and trade-off decisions balancing partner needs, business priorities, and resource constraints.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to manage and deliver against complex goals where strategy is not defined by dealing with ambiguity with organization skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • First-hand experience in DSPs, large scale advertising monetization platforms and Ad networks
  • Experience of working in Ad Tech companies or Affiliate networks.
  • Experience using B2B marketing, account management, productivity tools such as SalesForce, Marketo, etc.
  • Experience of working with product managers and engineers to solve customer problems and devise technology solutions
  • English Language Proficiency
