Role Overview

The Director of Retail Systems Product will be responsible for the suite of systems, platforms and tools that power selection sourcing, onboarding and supplier engagement in Taiwan. These include supplier platforms and internal sourcing planning and management tools; technologies that ultimately enable Coupang’s customers to discover products they desire at the right price and with the quickest and most convenient delivery.

The charter is one of both rapid scaling and automation, developing AI/ML-enabled technologies to scale selection while maintaining high quality catalog quality. S/he will partner with Retail business leaders to shape the selection sourcing, onboarding and supplier engagement strategy, including expansion into new categories. In addition, this leader will manage cross-functional teams to develop sourcing intelligence platforms and tools to enable the Retail sourcing teams to bring the most popular inventory from the right brands and suppliers to delight the Taiwanese customer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the product strategy, vision, and roadmap to expand retail selection strategically and build new / strengthen existing partnerships with high demand product brands and suppliers. Assign priorities based on strategic alignment, maximum business impact, and ROI.
  • Empower Teams: Inspire and lead product management and cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Data-Driven Decisioning: Leverage data analytics to make informed decisions, identify trends, and proactively address optimizations to ensure we are keeping up with customer demand in terms of selection coverage.
  • Champion Automation: Drive and support automation initiatives to minimize manual errors, increase efficiency, and support training data development via manual operations for various ML and automation initiatives within the retail stream.
  • Drive Scalability and Growth: Develop scalable systems and tools and establish operational playbooks, performance measurement systems, feedback loops and ad-ons to enable continuous improvement.
  • Manage all steps of the product lifecycle, including use case and problem statement definition, success and guardrail metrics, solution discovery, strategic development, launch, and impact analysis.
  • Train up-and-coming product managers by aligning their professional interests with the team’s overall program goals and strategies.
  • Establish strong working relationships with various stakeholders to deliver accurate, timely product features to continuously improve and achieve against program goals.

Qualifications

  • Track record of developing and scaling innovative new products for a tier one internet or technology organization.
  • Track record of managing high performing product development teams working in an agile environment with a rapid iteration cadence.
  • Proven ability to understand customer needs and translate that into compelling products and services.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a technical/quantitative discipline.
  • Startup experience with an ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment and changing priorities is highly valued
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English.
  • Mandarin language ability – strongly preferred.
  • Domain experience in a marketplace/ecommerce platform model – preferred.
