Position : Principal, Legal Counsel, HR & EHS

Coupang Taiwan is looking for a smart, customer obsessed, driven and creative Legal Counsel to support Coupang e-commerce and fulfillment service. The Legal Counsel will be responsible to utilize legal counsel experience and education in human resources, labor relations, and to draft, review, and negotiate commercial and HR related agreements, and stay updated on relevant laws in Human Resources, fulfillment and e-commerce. The candidate will also proactively respond to the business team and will interact daily with different stakeholders, supporting them in a very agile way.

What will you do?

• Advise, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts with third parties including inventory suppliers, HR agencies, and marketing partners.
• Manage litigation and investigations that may arise in Taiwan.
• Understand the e-commerce and fulfillment services business and related legal requirements.
• Serve as a legal resource to senior management team on human resource issues and initiatives.
• Provide creative legal advice to the business promptly, reviewing lawsuits and legal affairs across all the company.
• Work closely and collaboratively with internal business partners including Global Procurement, Finance, Corporate IT, and Security and Privacy on projects and company-wide initiatives. Demonstrate hands on experience but also the ability to handle and manage projects with other members of the team.

Essential Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer in Taiwan or foreign qualified lawyer with extensive experience working in TW.
• At least 5+ years of post-qualification legal experience. A mixture of law firm and in-house experience is preferred.
• Fluency in Mandarin and working level English proficiency
• Exceptional ability to consistently deliver creative, thoughtful and business-oriented results that appropriately balance growth and risk in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
• A willingness to learn voraciously and take on new scope and challenges.
• Ability to adapt easily to rapid and diverse business changes.
• Sound judgement in developing and implementing legal solutions.

Preferred Skills

• Ability to prioritize work in a complex, fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in Mandarin (English preferred but not mandatory).
• Ability to work with ambiguous problems
• Strong communication skills - speaking, writing, presenting and negotiating.
• Capability to work through relevant government authorities on immediate legal issues the company is facing through existing networks or being able to quickly establish working network.
• Fulfillment services, logistics and e-commerce business experience.
• Labor and employment legal experience.
