Team Overview

The Compliance team is focused on ensuring regulatory compliance as well as compliance with our Code of Conduct and Company Policies. Compliance team develops minimum number of policies and standards, provides appropriate guidance, and helps to implement and monitor controls to identify and mitigate compliance risks across the entire organization. The team partners with business and operations to design products, services and controls which reduce compliance vulnerabilities, and govern the process for measuring, monitoring, and reporting compliance risks.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible for establishing and maintaining technical solutions for risk management of sellers and customers on our platform.
• Collaborate globally and cross-functionally with the business, legal, IT, customer services and PR teams to develop solutions.
• Assess and implement core tools and data-driven technology to develop and improve Coupang’s trust and safety capabilities.
• Develop the trust and safety road map and collaborate with key business partners to set objectives and KPIs along with placing metrics to track progress against those goals.
• Make recommendations to improve the product, policies and procedures to keep the platform safe.
• Proactively monitor the trends and intelligence sources to refine Coupang’s policies and processes in regards to customer experience and safety.
• Identify opportunities for improving efficiency in the system and tools.
• Leads design and operationalization of risk management frameworks, strategies, and methodologies and scenario analyses.
• Rapidly analyze large-scale support and incident data to uncover abuse patterns, policy gaps, or emerging threats and translate those insights into action.

Essential Qualifications

• 10-15 years of experience in compliance, audit, operations or consulting within a risk management and/or fraud prevention discipline.
• Experience in risk and/or fraud management and prevention in e-commerce marketplaces, and/or payments platform
• Excellent problem-solving, and attention to detail skills with experience solving problems across multiple functions and stakeholders
• Ability to transform legal requirements to operational activities within a complex risk management environment
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with demonstrable multi-dimensional stakeholder management capabilities
• Experience in project management (e.g. interpersonal, verbal, written communication)
• Experience in risk modeling or scenario analysis a plus
