Base Pay Range:
$153,158.00 - $229,738.00Job Summary:
The Head of Design is responsible for developing and managing all aspects of our design output. It's a leadership role, with accountability for the success of the design department. You will ensure the design deliverables are aligned to stakeholder expectations, meet business goals and are executed within budget and deadlines.
At times, you will to develop visual designs, and at other times, be responsible for recruiting and managing multi-disciplinary third party suppliers as well as internal design resources.
It will involve you using your best practice toolkit to implement new processes and practices to improve the efficiency of the design and creative department.
This role reports up to the Head of Product who you will work with to develop a data-driven product strategy and roadmap.

Responsibilities:
- Develop a data-driven design program that meets Vroom’s business objectives and advances our brand strategy
- Manage the design team and freelancers as required
- Influence design-led thinking across the business
- Manage the design and creative elements of projects and be point of contact for brand partnerships and creative projects
- Develop and manage productivity and to continuously improve the design team’s production capabilities
- Ensure that design and creative projects are delivered on time
- Provide quality control over design outputs and production
- Establish and developing best practice with the design and creative team
- Work with other team members to deliver projects and activity to deliver against deadlines
- Work on assets required for Product teams
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Design, or equivalent practical experience
E-commerce industry experience
8+ years of experience in UX/Product Design
4+ years of experience leading design projects
3+ years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization
2+ years of experience working with executive leaders
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of Designers, Researchers, Engineers, Content Strategists, and Product Managers throughout the design process
Portfolio highlighting multiple projects that demonstrates experience crafting digital interfaces, and designing consumer-focused, app/mobile products
Experience working with early stage efforts, dealing with ambiguity, and driving projects forward
Problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such as desktop and mobile (Android and iOS)
Skills in communicating and influencing product design strategy
Experience with using UX tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, etc.)
Experience working across organizational boundaries and collaborating with cross-functional teams
Ability to turn ideas into functional prototypes
Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
A service-oriented mindset - you are positive and care about the needs of your customers and teammates
